Distance LAB tools, online hub and living labs published
Remote and hybrid work are no longer trends – they are the new normal. The DistanceLAB project has been working for almost three years to help organizations across the Baltic Sea Region in adapting to this reality. In 2025 we have reached a major milestone: the launch of the online DistanceHub, offering free, practical tools for businesses and public organizations to thrive in remote environments.

Throughout the DistanceLAB project, we’ve worked across borders to help organizations tackle key challenges in remote work and service development, such as:
- How can organizations foster innovation remotely?
- How can communication be improved in hybrid and remote teams?
- How to be remote and sustainable?
- How should business strategies evolve in a remote world?
Now the results are available: a full suite of tested tools, a vibrant online hub, and an international network of Living Labs.
What’s available now?
The DistanceLab Online Hub brings together all the tools developed in the project. These are grouped into three categories:
- Innovate & Network: Tools for remote communication, soft interaction skills, networking methods and open innovation workshops.
- Strategize & Shape Your Business: Tools for customer relationship building, cybersecurity, employee satisfaction, digitalization strategy and internationalization.
- Focus on Sustainability: Tools like Eco-Digital-Check and Design for Sustainability help align business models with environmental goals.
Living Labs – real-world testing and co-creation
Each partner country has developed one or more Living Labs, where tools have been tested in real work environments. These labs have enabled co-creation, feedback collection, and adaptation of tools to local needs. They continue to offer opportunities for organizations to join workshops, test tools, and share experiences.
Visiting the DistanceLab Online Hub or engaging with a Living Lab can be a starting point for improving remote work practices and strengthening innovation and sustainability. The platform also enables organizations to expand international networks and access expert-led workshops and materials. All the resources will remain available on the DistanceLab Hub even after the project.
What’s next?
November 19th we are organizing the final seminar of the project in Lahti, Finland and online: Seminar on Remote, Hybrid, Resilient: Shaping the Future of Work and Business. The event is open to all curious minds — business leaders, educators, students, researchers, experts, and policymakers.
Register before the 14th November (Lahti/online)
